ara Eidi and Naadia Sheriff : Her Story – a celebration of Women in Music
An evening of powerful women’s stories , by two powerful and creative musicians!
Set to be an evening of a journey through song and time.
Singer/songwriter/musician/pianist Lara Eidi and arranger Naadia Sheriff return to the Hampstead to present a special program in honour of Women’s day. The two women draw on both their loves of folk, jazz, and everything in between to celebrate some of the most powerful stories told by female singers and musicians.
Rising star singer/songwriter Lara Eidi and renowned pianist Naadia Sheriff, perform an homage to the leading ladies of song. Drawing on their love of folk, jazz, musical theatre and original compositions Eidi and Sheriff perform some of the most memorable songs of female singers and songwriters, telling their own story through their unique and now established collaboration. Joni Mitchell, Dianne Reeves, Lizz Wright, Carole King, Barbara Streisand are some of the celebrated musicians, including original works by the two artists. and many more.
Lara Eidi is a versatile and unique singer-songwriter, blending elements of folk, jazz and world.Praised for having a voice that was reminiscent of Streisand and Joni Mitchell, Eidi has been described as “a singer that knows no niche, because she has created one of her own”.
She has established a name for herself in London, Beirut and Athens, often collaborating with genre-defying musicians and filmmakers. An interview as a a rising star with BBC Radio London this year prompted her to revisit her roots, and travel abroad for residencies and inspiring cross-over work.
“Lara Eidi is one of those singers who connects with the audience as soon as she starts to sing.” Sandy Brown Jazz, June 2017
“A singer that knows no niche, because she has created one of her own” Maria Markouli – Athens News
“Sincere, heartfelt. It was then that I realised that music runs through Lara’s veins. It is not just something she does, but it is a part of her very being, far more than just an intense passion.” Andrea Vermark, Culture Box, South Africa
Naadia is an active member of the London Jazz scene where recent work includes being part of ‘The London Jazz Orchestra’ (featuring Alec Dankworth and Paul Clarvis) alongside performances with her own quartet for the ‘Loop’ and ‘E17Jazz’ collectives and an appearance at Ronnie Scott’s with the Yazz Ahmed group alongside Jim Hart and Dudley Philips.
