London born Zoe Francis started singing while living in New York attending the workshops of Barry Harris and jam sessions throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn and Harlem before doing regular gigs with musicians including Harry Allen, Chris Flory and Jo Cohn. Returning to the UK Zoe moved to Bristol were she worked and recorded her debut album “Looking For a Boy” with award winning pianist Dave Newton. In 2013 Zoe moved to London. “The Very Thought of You” Zoe’s second album was recorded live at the 606 Club in 2015 with great band including pianist Gareth Williams, Stan Sulzmann on tenor, and award winning guitarist Jim Mullen.
In 2018 Zoe recorded “Remembering Blossom Dearie” with Jim Mullen, pianist Barry Green and bassist Mick Hutton. This third album is both a tribute to Zoe’s time spent in New York and to the great taste in songwriters and composers Blossom loyally promoted (Cy Coleman, Carolyn Leigh, Dave Frishberg, Comden and Green).
Continuing her musical partnership with husband Jim Mullen, tonight Zoe will be performing songs from her new album “Blue Town” another great selection of standards also featuring Ross Stanley on organ.
