About

In 1984 a group of local jazz enthusiasts got together and formed Cheltenham Jazz putting on both international and British jazz stars at the Queen’s Hotel and later at the Town Hall Pillar Room.It is remarkable looking back over some of these names: Archie Shepp, Teddy Edwards, Red Rodney, Bobby Wellins, Don Weller and many more. How fortunate we were to hear such wonderful jazz!!The club has moved on since then. In recent years we have welcomed some outstanding bands led by the likes of Clark Tracy, Alan Barnes, Art Themen and Tim Whitehead, to name just a few. All supported by top session musicians.

Cheltenham Jazz has two ideal venues: the Everyman Irving Studio Theatre – a perfect intimate listening theatre, and the ballroom at the Victory Club in Lypiatt Road, Cheltenham with comfortable seating and bar, suitable for approximately hundred people.
