Kevin Davy’s music direction:
Kevin Davy tends to work within small jazz ensemble, from quartet to sextet, and occasionally larger groups, for his own music. Occasionally varying the instrumentation beyond the normal jazz rhythm section.
Davys composition employs strong melodic content, urban edge, and elements from Nu Jazz, harmony from blues, gospel, and the near east. Space, tone and texture are important components of the musical direction with regard to the trumpet and other instrumentation.
