Identity

As a vocalist he has contributed to recordings with Jamie Cullum, Emeli Sande, Gregory Porter, Kano, Alexis Ffrench, and is a long standing member of Mike Skinner’s band The Streets. Many consider him to be a musical chameleon, due to his influences and ability to move between musical genres, from Reggae, Soul, Jazz, Dance, Hip Hop, Folk, Electronica and World Music. Kevin states “if I feel it, I sing it”. He has performed around the globe as a soloist in many different incarnations. He is at home performing on stages, like London’s  Ronnie Scotts, Jazz Cafe, The O2 Brixton academy, Wembley Stadium, The Royal Festival Hall,  The Albert Hall, and major festivals Boom Town, V festival, Outlook Festival, Roskilde festival, Park Life, and Glastonbury. As a solo performer, Kevin has supported the award winning/critically acclaimed Beverly Knight, N.E.R.D, Massive Attack, Angie Stone, and alongside Mike Skinner he is still touring the world.  During the year- long celebration of MBE David Rodigan’s 40 years in Reggae music (Dj/Broadcasting) Kevin performed as part of David Rodigan’s Outlook Orchestra. As part of the Outlook Orchestra, Kevin had the privilege of sharing the stage with Maxi Priest, UB40, Julian Marley, Protoje and Freddie McGregor, as a backing and lead vocalist. Moving between musical worlds, Kevin was also part of UK dance act Basement Jaxx’s 2019 Australian tour, singing as a soloist at venues inculding The Sydney Opera House. Over the past nine years Kevin has spent a lot of time in New Zealand working as part of award winning electronic collective Sola Rosa, and with New Zealand’s Jazz Icon Nathan Haines. Kevin found a close affinity  to the land in New Zealand and Māori tradition/culture which he was first exposed to in the UK via the London/NZ collective Huia. As a result of meeting and connecting with Huia, Kevin went on to produce and co-write a number of releases in “te reo’ Māori”, the native language of New Zealand, via Kog Records. Although still traveling the world, Kevin has a long term relationship with Birmingham’s five piece female Acapella  group “Black Voices” as a performer, educator, and writer. Community and education has always been at the heart of Kevin’s story and he has facilitated song writing, singing, performing and music entrepreneur workshops in the UK and aboard over the last 15 years. Trail’s aim is to learn, grow and share.
