Although this is the programme for the Kingsbridge Jazz Club, for the last few years they have been hosting their monthly jazz evenings here in Aveton Gifford at the Fisherman’s Rest, on the first Tuesday evening of every month. The club is now known as “Kingsbridge Jazz Club At Aveton Gifford” – rather a mouthful, but it has become so well established at AG the club has decided to change its name to acknowledge this.

For those of you who have not been before it is perhaps worth explaining the calibre of performances that we are lucky enough to have here in Aveton Gifford. Every one of these bands are international players, and there is a great variation in the music from “Swing” and “Gypsy Jazz” Through “Blues” to “Dixieland” and “Raw New Orleans Jazz” – indeed some of them have been granted the freedom of New Orleans.

The Club has now gained its first viewing on YouTube! Take a look at this link; http://youtube/GUlZZfIcERM We are deservedly acquiring notoriety; we are a club to be proud of, so thank you to all our members and regular visitors for your continued support.

If you also use Facebook you will find a new page there for Kingsbridge Jazz Club at Aveton Gifford, with details about the various gigs, more photos and video clips too; www.facebook.com/kingsbridgejazzclub

Those who come along will find good entertainment, great talent, and a lot of humour. Regular visitors often decide to join the Club themselves, and then receive the newsletter every 2 months containing extra information.

Tickets (at the Door) £10 for non members or £8 for members. Music starts at 7.30 pm and ends at 10.00 pm (with two 15 minute intervals). No need to book but it’s a good idea to get there early to get a favourable table, especially if you are sharing with friends as many do, or take advantage of the Dine and Jazz offer below.

The pub serves real ales and food on club nights from 6.30 pm, and for those going to listen to the music a new deal has been introduced in recent months, The Early Bird Dine and Jazz – a special menu (choice of 3 mains including a vegetarian option, and 2 sweets served between 6.00 and 6.30, and also the ability to reserve seats in the Jazz Cellar. Booking is essential please (01548 550284)

Our Christmas Jazz Gig is for members and supporters only, and therefore the only pre-booked ticket event of the year.

The jazz club normally meets on the first Tuesday of the month, but in January the date will be “the Second Tuesday” in order for us all to recover from the Christmas festivities.
