Ostend
The Vrijstaat O. arts centre is delighted to announce the second STORM!, a benevolent wave of jazz & beyond that has a habit of breaking free of traditional boundaries. For three whole weeks, Ostend will be flooded with adventurous music. The undisputed highlight of this citywide festival will be the two-day event staged at CC De Grote Post, featuring acts from both home and abroad. The focus will be on today’s up-and-coming generation, and on crossovers with other genres. Our central guest will be the pianist Fulco Ottervanger (De Beren Gieren), whose various performances will include the presentation of two world premieres and some adventurous detours into other disciplines. This year, STORM! has made a pact with the new BRAND! festival in Mechelen. The fruits of this collaboration can be seen in a new LABtrio creation, which will feature guest musicians from New York.
