About

The Bimhuis is one of the most prominent venues for jazz and improvised music in the world. Artists such as Brad Mehldau, John Scofield, Joshua Redman and Archie Shepp appeared on the stage early in their careers and to this day the Bimhuis keeps supporting remarkable new talents. Presenting around 300 concerts every year the Bimhuis gives priority to adventurous programming and high artistic quality.

Bimhuis is ‘founding member’ of the Europe Jazz Network.

We promises the audience a reciprocal concert experience in a beautiful place, where state-of-the-art, groundbreaking jazz is created. In a personal atmosphere with perfect sound.

Our programs are rooted in free thinking. We have been doing this since 1974 with musicians, makers, programmers and audiences who all contribute to the conversation about (musical) conventions and freedom.

We shape the changing world: we facilitate projects, and initiate and organize the creation of new work.

The BIMHUIS is, like jazz itself, an open form, continuously developing in relation to the world – a mentality. We create conditions in all layers of the organization to listen carefully for more mutual understanding. Listening to the music, to makers, to each other, to our visitors and to society.
