Pushing the boundaries of the Edinburgh scene since 1996, The Bongo Club is a nightclub, live venue and all-round artistic hub with a street-level-headed attitude and an international reputation.

Truly independent, we’re owned by local arts charity Out Of The Blue (pictured above), which has an established track record as a catalyst for creativity in Edinburgh. This allows us to put the sounds of the underground and imaginative aspirations before the mighty dollar, encouraging the community to get involved and use our space to do their own thing.

With the added appeal of a unique laid-back vibe plus some of the highest grade production aesthetics the capital has to offer, these cult clubs have welcomed the great and the good from across the board, not to mention filling the floor equally on residents’ nights, with their DJs keeping loyal crowds consistently coming back for more.

In terms of full live bands/performers, the great and the talented to have graced the Bongo stage further includes: Candi Staton, Gwen Macrae, The Skatalites, Jerry Dammers, Sister Nancy & Sister Carol, Sir Coxsone Dodd, Billy Childish, Silver Jews, Money Mark, The Scissor Sisters, KT Tunstall, Caribou, De La Soul (pictured above), Slum Village, Amp Fiddler, People Under The Stairs, Fujiya & Miyagi, Faust, Mark Thomas, Simon Amstell, Amanda Palmer, Spoek Mathambo, Hidden Orchestra, Slew Dem, Wylie, The Correspondents, Kate Tempest, Shapeshifter, Field Music, Lau, Camille O’Sullivan, Kasabian, Vampire Weekend, We Were Promised Jetpacks, The Vaselines, Rachel Unthank, Micah P Hinson, Kate Rogers, Declan O’Rourke, The Magic Numbers, Gruff Rhys, Errors, Spindrift, Skinnyman, Marley Marl, Kid Koala, Ugly Duckling, Schlomo, Kool Keith, Guru, Ali Shaheed Mohammed, Jeru The Damaja and Jehst.

Add to the mix film, theatre, comedy, art events and drama workshops for young people run by Creative Electric (above) and the result is consistently greater than the sum of its parts.
